Downing Street Memo – More powerful than ever

With the ongoing revelations regarding the PlameGate affair and how there appears to have been a concerted conspiracy in the White House to discredit and smear Ambassador Joseph Wilson – a perceived threat to the shady neo-conservative Bush Administration’s long standing intention for invading Iraq, it appears that the Downing Street Memo is increasingly relevant. The authenticity of the document cannot be challenged – nor can the powerful intimations within that declare our American government had planned to invade Iraq long before Congressional Authority was granted. Bush wanted to go to war before he ever became President – reportedly in 1999. Most sickeningly, the reasons given by Bush were to gain political capital and “become a great President”. The efforts to obtain UN Authorization were a charade intended to buffalo the world community into believing the US was trying mightily to get Saddam’s cooperation – in fact there was never any doubt of the road ahead. Months before Congress granted the authority, over 100 British and US warplanes conducted massive bombing raids to destroy Iraqi military capacities. The war started in 2002. Over 2,000 American citizens have died with another 35,000+ casualties. All this for delusions of grandeur. What does impeachment mean if it is not applicable to this base betrayal of country?
