What's next - hookers?
The investigation into the paying of Iraqi media outlets to publish American propaganda is expanding. The US Army has apparently setup a “press club” for Iraqi journalists where “reporter compensation” was offered, but it insists that favorable reports were not required. "Members are not required nor asked to write favorably," said Lt. Col. Robert Whetstone. "They are simply invited to report on events." Sure.
In a nation where the average monthly salary is $300 and reporters commonly accept gifts of cash or goods for favorable stories, offering $25 for each story and $45 for one with photos wouldn't tempt anyone. Sure.
