Tin cup president
Last month Georgie came home from his Asian trip crowing about the order that Boeing just received from China for ~70 airplanes for ~$4B. He was under pressure to show his policies are working, that we have an effective China policy. Oh boy! Since our trade deficit with China is expected to be over $200 billion this year, 70 planes mean what? Nothing.
Well, China just showed what they really thought of Bush and his policies – they dissed him by giving a much larger order to the Europeans. Airbus received an order for 150 planes valued at nearly $10B. So much for Bush's presence on the world stage.
Boeing had historically been receiving 60% of China's airplane business with Airbus getting ~33%. Looks like the scales have tipped with Bush at the helm, we get the crumbs.
