Dastardly Deeds
When Ambassador Joseph Wilson blew the lid off of Bush's claim regarding Iraq's capabilities regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction, he was deemed a threat to their policy and needed to be eliminated. How to do it though? As we now know, his wife, Valerie Plame Wilson, a covert CIA officer was 'outed' per directions from the White House. The outing would send a message to the clandestine CIA force and other Executive Branch employees – tow the line. Never mind that this is patently illegal, the neo-con plans for Iraq were not to be stopped – truth be damned.
Maybe this new information will pull back the veil of secrecy a little more:
The unmasking of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson by White House officials in 2003 caused significant damage to U.S. national security and its ability to counter nuclear proliferation abroad...
According to current and former intelligence officials, Plame Wilson, who worked on the clandestine side of the CIA in the Directorate of Operations as a non-official cover (NOC) officer, was part of an operation tracking distribution and acquisition of weapons of mass destruction technology to and from Iran.
Speaking under strict confidentiality, intelligence officials revealed heretofore unreported elements of Plame's work. Their accounts suggest that Plame's outing was more serious than has previously been reported and carries grave implications for U.S. national security and its ability to monitor Iran's burgeoning nuclear program.
The revelation that Iran was the focal point of Plame's work raises new questions as to possible other motivating factors in the White House's decision to reveal the identity of a CIA officer working on tracking a WMD supply network to Iran, particularly when the very topic of Iran's possible WMD capability is of such concern to the Administration.
So Plame was working on Iran's WMD capabilities. Just a theory, but what if her work was revealing that Iran's capabilities were far off into the future (may be true) – or that they truly were pursuing nuclear power for their energy needs and had no malicious intentions? The neo-con plan for the Middle East would be thrown into chaos. Iraq was being questioned by Wilson, Iran could be next, the threats to their plans had to be dealt with quickly. Out Plame, get her away from the Iran investigation, scare her husband and others into submission. Maybe they didn't want to capably monitor Iran's capabilities, they only wanted to invade. Just a theory, but it sounds like Iraq Déjà Vu .
