No to the no-nos

Maine is the latest state to refuse federal sex education funds that would restrict them to be used only for abstinence programs. Citing studies showing that not only are the federal programs ineffective and contain wrong information, Maine believed compliance may actually be harmful to children. In the past, states were allowed to spend the money on a variety of sexual educational methods – contraception, abstinence, and sexually transmitted disease information. This year Maine was being pressured to promote that sex outside of marriage is unacceptable and that couples should be economically self-sufficient before having sex. HUH??

These changes occurred because oversight of the federal money recently shifted to a new branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Administration for Children and Families.

Seems apparent that new branch is inhabited by knuckle dragging, right wing religio-nuts. When will they stop hating America and Americans and stay out of our private lives?
