He still doesn't get it

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas said Friday “Federal court appointments are being held hostage by the abortion issue” in a speech urging briefer, less-intrusive confirmation processes. He stated that former clerks and other lawyers tell him “they're not interested in federal judgeships because of the potential for bruising confirmation battles...I think that's a problem when the stars are beginning to say, Thank you, but no thanks” Thomas also said he has never met a judge who attempted to impose a personal agenda through decisions, so attempting to uncover such people through extensive hearings is pointless.

Pointless? What is pointless about seeking to ensure a woman's right to control her own body is not abridged by some religio-fascist nutcase? What is pointless about seeking to ensure that the Supreme Court will fairly represent all of America – not just the narrow minded hate spewers that got someone elected? What is pointless about trying to ensure liberty for all Americans – not just the well-heeled or politically connected? What is pointless about ensuring the rights of all Americans to practice the religion of their choice and not be coerced by the one with powerful political pull?

Thomas didn't distinguish himself in his hearings – nor has he on the bench. Guess his detractors have been proven right. His latest statements are another disappointment.
