Bush - ethics training for staff
Good to hear that Bush is requiring that his staff attend briefings on ethical behavior and the handling of classified material. However, a basic question needing an answer is “Wouldn't this training have been required for his staff FIVE YEARS AGO before they had access to classified material?? If White House personnel had received prior training in such a critical area of conduct, why do they need to be trained again? Talk about closing the gate after the horse has got out – sheesh!
Reportedly Harriet Miers' White House counsels office will be conducting the courses. Is it ethical for a person who knows they are not qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice to conduct ethical training? Is it ethical for a President who knowingly nominates an unqualified “friend” to the Supreme Court to require ethical training for others? Is Bush and Cheney and the cabal attending the briefings also?
Everyone knows the old adage “a fish rots from the head.”
