US government liars and traitors
Recent info about the Niger yellowcake fiasco suggests that either the US government and its intelligence agencies is composed of outright idiots or they manipulated the intelligence to suit their treasonous plans. Either option is pitiful – but the latter appears to be the truth.
Consider:
SISMI, the Italian intelligence service informs other intelligence agencies in Oct 2001 that they have evidence, coming from a “woman” who worked at the Niger embassy in Rome, of Iraq efforts to buy uranium from Niger. The CIA doubts this report.
General Pollari, head of Italian intelligence, allegedly works with American neocons to disseminate the documents throughout the highest levels of the Bush administration – bypassing the CIA. He met in December, 2001 with a number of neocons led by Michael Ledeen, a personal friend. Ledeen's purpose for the meeting was to gather evidence to support the ALREADY PLANNED war with Iraq. Ledeen is a member of the American Enterprise Institute and a close friend of Richard Mellon Schiafe. Ledeen is also a rabid anti Arab, pro Israel fanatic and is Karl Roves “brain” on foreign policy. He once proclaimed the rightness of the fascist cause and advocates attacking Iran. (More on Ledeen here and here and here – this guy and his co-conspirators are no friends of democracy – they're traitors.)
Shady Italian intelligence operator Rocco Martino meets with British Intelligence in the fall of 2001.
The CIA sends former Ambassador Joseph Wilson to Niger in the spring of 2002 to further investigate their belief the documents are worthless. He comes back saying there is no evidence Iraq was trying to buy uranium from Niger.
Martino begins to peddle the documents, in 2002, purporting to show Iraq was buying uranium from Niger. His first score is with the French intelligence service. The documents are also transferred to the American Embassy in Rome by a magazine owned by Italian Prime Minister Burlusconi in October, 2002. These documents are what the conspirators in the US government need.
Bush uses the documents in his now infamous State of the Union address in January 2003.
Upon receipt of the documents from the the US, the UN's nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, determined they were obvious forgeries.
The planned Iraq fiasco begins – damage to come for decades.
The truth will come also.
