Ethics sham

According to the Associated Press: White House workers, from presidential advisers to low-ranking aides, began attending mandatory lectures on ethical behavior and the handling of classified documents Tuesday...More than 3,000 employees are required to attend the hour-long briefings over the next two weeks.

"The president takes the issue of the handling of classified information very seriously," press secretary Scott McClellan said, adding “The White House staff knows very well what is expected of them. They are expected to focus on the people's business and they are expected to adhere to the highest ethical standards. The president has made that clear for quite some time.”

The Democratic National Committee has the right take on this: “Given that Karl Rove is still reporting for work every day with his security clearance, I'm sure the American people will see these so-called ethics classes for the cheap political stunt that they are,” said communications director Karen Finney. “If President Bush was truly serious about restoring ethics — not to mention his own credibility — he would have no problem keeping his word to fire anyone involved in the CIA leak scandal, starting with Karl Rove.”

One would think, considering the flagrant abuses committed by this crowd , maybe more than one measly of hour of training is required. Guess they really don't think too much about ethics.

  • "ethics", meaning "Keep your mouth shut about what goes on around here, don't talk to the media, be blind to and don't think about what goes on around here, so I (Bush) don't have to explain myself, back up my word, and myself be ethical and honest man I should be when all I want to do is play government and war. You're ruining my fun."
